Sealants are a very thin, protective coating that bonds to the surface of your back teeth, helping to prevent cavities. Sealants do not require numbing or drilling and are usually painless. Developed to ward off decay before it affects a tooth, Sealants are most commonly used on teeth most prone to cavities, such as those in children and young adults. Sealants do not have to be removed and with proper care, may last up to 10 years. Though highly effective, they are not a substitute for proper oral care.
